Zhanguangtai Active Old Bush White Tea. Inheriting over a century of white tea craftsmanship from Bailin, it features high-mountain old bush leaves and an all-chain active processing method that preserves the tea's natural enzymes, allowing the leaves to breathe and age continuously. The dry leaves are robust with a rich woody aroma; the amber-hued liquor is mellow, smooth, and sticky-sweet with a lingering aftertaste that promotes salivation. Highly durable for brewing and suitable for both drinking and collecting. Naturally aged in a dry warehouse, it improves with time—perfect for tasting or storing.
Zhanguangtai, born from the century-old Guangtai Tea House in Bailin, represents the Tongshuntai Premium Old Bush Series. Adhering to an active full-chain process, we select fresh leaves from mature old-bush tea trees at high altitudes in Bailin. Without pan-firing or rolling, we employ a combination of solar withering and traditional slow-roasting over low fire to preserve the tea's active enzymes. This grants the tea enduring potential for aging, blending the rich internal quality of old bushes with active white tea craftsmanship to fully express the unique character and resilience of old-bush tea.
Dry tea: thick, well-formed leaves with sturdy stems; a blend of dark green and brownish-yellow hues with a weathered texture and visible white hairs. The aroma is deep and mellow, featuring rich woody notes from old bushes and forest undergrowth, subtly blended with hints of honey sweetness.
Aroma: Deep and stable in the liquor, evolving through distinct layers. In its new tea phase, it offers bushy, woody notes with delicate floral, fruity, and honeyed undertones. As it ages in a dry warehouse, subtle aged, mellow medicinal, and zongzi leaf aromas gradually emerge—refined, long-lasting, and lingering on the cup bottom.
Liquor Color: Clear amber-gold, rich and lustrous with a smooth, viscous texture.
Flavor: Rich, smooth entry with distinct aged bush character and persistent rock sugar sweetness. Warm woody notes, minimal bitterness. Full-bodied broth with gradual sweet aftertaste, long-lasting throat moistening, and a delicate, gentle texture. Excellent durability—over ten steepings retain their character in a gaiwan; ideal for boiling. Boiled tea becomes honey-sweet and viscous. The tea's nature gradually shifts from cool to warm with aging, making it suitable year-round.
Leaf Bottom: Broad, thick leaves with a supple, elastic texture and a fresh, glossy appearance—defining characteristics of active white tea.
